Lee E. Rigel, OD Dr. Rigel, whose experience spans over 35 years in the East Lansing community, is the founder of VisionCare Associates. He began his practice in 1972 and is a member of the Michigan Optometric Association. In 1990 Dr. Rigel was named the organization’s “Key Person.” He has lectured extensively on contact lenses and management, an area in which he is also widely published. Dr. Rigel serves on several contact lens and ophthalmic laboratories advisory and investigation panels, while also participating in FDA studies. As past chair of the American Optometric Association’s Contact Lens Section, a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a Diplomate of the AAO Cornea and Contact Lens Section, he is an expert in the field recognized by his colleagues around the world. Dr. Rigel serves as a state administrator for the Vision Source network of independent practicioners.

Cheryl Vincent Riemer, OD Dr. Vincent-Riemer began practicing in East Lansing in 1986. Since that time her work in contact lenses and children’s vision has brought her the respect of patients and professionals alike. Having served as a clinical investigator for several ophthalmic laboratories as well as authoring a number of papers in new product developments in the field, she has been formally recognized for her accomplishments. In 1998, she was awarded the Michigan Optometric Association’s Key Person of the Year. Soon after, she was given the mark of distinction as Wessley Jessen’s “Optometrist of the 90s.” A current member and past trustee of the Michigan Optometric Association who has worked diligently on promoting public policy beneficial to patients, Dr. Vincent has been active on their Contact Lens Committee for 20 years. She is also a member of the American Optometric Association, and a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry. She also serves on boards of several local organizations and is very active in local church affairs.

Sarah N. Knapp, OD Dr. Knapp, a graduate of Ohio State University’s School of Optometry, has served patients in the East Lansing area for 13 years. Her experience extends beyond optometric treatment and into research in the area of contact lenses. A co-investigator for clinical studies, Dr. Knapp is on the Michigan Optometric Association’s Contact Lens Committee, is a member of the American Optometric Association’s Contact Lens Section and has lectured on the subject. An expert in eye care, Dr. Knapp has also lectured for the Michigan Optometric Association on patient education with regard to refractive surgical correction, dry eye and other important treatment issues. Her work in pediatric eye care is well-known in the community. Dr. Knapp is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and is a past member of the board of the Central Michigan Optometric Association. She is recognized in the field as a doctor who is involved in her community and a leader in charitable work.
